Managing primary contact numbers for supporters

A primary phone and primary mobile is set for each supporter whenever they are synced from NationBuilder.

If they have a valid number in the mobile field then that is used as both the primary phone and primary mobile.

If they don’t have a valid number in the mobile field but do have a valid number in the home phone field, then the latter is used as the primary phone number.

Additionally, in the second case, if the valid number in their home phone field appears to be a mobile then it is also used as their primary mobile (for receiving SMS, including blasts), as long as that option is enabled for your SupporterBase (under Settings > Configurations > Send SMS messages to mobile numbers that have been entered as the supporter's home phone by mistake).

When that admin configuration option is enabled it will mean all subsequent sync processes automatically check the format of each supporter's home phone number. Given this happens the next time the sync process runs, it might take a few hours before the primary mobile value of all supporters is updated (though you can always trigger that sync process manually for specific groups to ensure it runs straight away, using the green Sync people from NationBuilder” button on each group page).
