SMS inbox
Your email mailbox is where you will receive all SMS messages from group supporters. Within the SMS inbox, you can:
- View all SMS threads.
- Reply to an SMS thread.
- Mark SMS threads as ‘responded’ or ‘awaiting response’.
- RSVP the supporter to an event from inside an SMS thread.
- Update the supporter's contact preferences from within the SMS htread.
To get to your SMS inbox
- Navigate to SMS Blasts > SMS Inbox via the left-hand side navigation.
- Select your supporter group from the drop-down menu that appears. All groups that have SMS threads ‘awaiting response’ will display a number in brackets next to the group name on the drop-down. For example, Demo Group (1) would have one SMS thread ‘awaiting response’.
- Click the Choose this supporter group button.
Viewing SMS threads
Once you are in your group’s SMS inbox, you can filter SMS threads by:
- ‘All’.
- ‘Awaiting response’.
- ‘Responded'.
Replying to SMS threads
To view and respond to an SMS thread:
- Click the blue View button next to the SMS thread you would like to view.
- You will see the original message at the bottom of the display, with more recent messages toward the top of the thread (organised in ascending order). Each message includes details of the date sent, content, and the name of the sender.
- At the top of the display there is a text box labeled Body, where you can draft and send a new SMS message to the supporter featured in this thread.
Marking SMS threads as responded or awaiting response
You can Mark as responded or Mark as awaiting response next to the relevant SMS thread on the main SMS inbox display, so you and fellow leaders know that the supporter is not still waiting for a response.
RSVP the supporter to an event from inside an SMS thread
- When inside an individual SMS thread, you can choose to RSVP [supporter’s name] to event. This button is located at the top right-hand corner of the display.
- Once selected, a pop-up will appear asking you to select the relevant event.
- Once you select a group event and click Add RSVP, the supporter will be added to the RSVP list for that event.
A note on managing SMS threads for supporters that may be in more than one group
If a supporter is a member of more than one group in your SupporterBase, when they reply to communications, the message thread will appear in the inbox of every group they belong to.
The reason for this is because your organisation has one number set up for calling and SMS (through our third party provider, Twilio), and the only solution to stop getting messages from multiple groups would be to pay the money for an individual Twilio number for every single group within your organisation's SupporterBase. This decision lies with your organising team.
