Importing Event RSVPs

Process

If you already have supporter RSVP data in CSV format with which to update the RSVP records for your event, you can add that to SupporterBase in bulk via the Imports feature on the left-hand side menu.

To import event RSVP data:

  1. Click Imports > New Import.
  2. Select a CSV file.
  3. Select Import Type > Event RSVPs/attendees
  4. Select the supporter group you would like to add the data to.
  5. Decide whether you would like the import to override existing date. Where your import includes data for existing RSVPs in your group, selcting this option will replace any existing data in SupporterBase with the data from the CSV import.

There is no restriction on the column headers required for the CSV import.You will be prompted to map the columns of your CSV import to the appropriate SupporterBase data fields. This helps prevent any data entry mistakes, or the introduction of incomplete records to your supporter groups.

Permissions

Only admins and captains have the ability to import event RSVPs.

People RSVP'ing to events via a public page

Q. Will everyone that RSVP's to an event via a public page automatically be to added to the relevant group in SupporterBase?

A. It really depends on the organisation, for example:

  • There are others orgs using SupporterBase that only want supporters to belong to a single group (but allow them to still RSVP to events by other groups)
  • And then there are cases like this where evidently you'd like an RSVP to cause someone to be added to a group

Our system aims to support both use cases, which is why we don’t force event RSVPs into groups automatically. The good news is that it’s possible to do this using NationBuilder’s calendar-wide event settings. For any groups where it makes sense to auto-add supporters when they RSVP to a group event (and you could decide you'd like to apply these settings for every group) it’s just a matter of:

  • Opening the group’s calendar page in the NationBuilder backend
  • Navigating to “Calendar settings” > “Event settings”
  • Clicking the checkbox and entering the group’s associated tag(s) in the field labelled “Tag RSVP with”
