Levels of engagement

Levels of engagement, as the name implies, generally refer to the different levels of commitment you find among your supporter community. For example, you may have a small group of highly committed supporters who take an active role in volunteering and advocating for your cause at the local levels, in addition to supporters that may not be in a position to be as active, but are still willing to take part in the occasional action. Every organisation categorises their levels of engagement slightly differently, so that is why these are customizable in SupporterBase.

To add new levels of engagement

  1. Use the left-hand side menu to navigate to "Settings > Custom Filters".
  2. Toward the top of the page, you have the option to "Create New Level of Engagement".
  3. You will be prompted to give the level of engagement a name, as well as name the associated tag.

To edit Levels of Engagement

  1. Use the left-hand side menu to navigate to Settings > Custom Filters.
  2. Ensure the "Levels of Engagement" option is highlighted, rather than the Tag Filter Option.

You can now:

  • Search all levels of engagement;
  • Activate or deactivate levels of engagement using the “Is Active” checkbox;
  • Edit any levels of engagement using the pencil icon on the right-hand side;
  • Delete any levels of engagement using the garbage can icon on the right-hand side;
  • Reorder the levels of engagement by using the navigation icon to drag items up and down.

One thing to note is that, if you activate the below configuration option in your settings, then all supporters must have at least one of the level of engagements in order to appear in a group (in addition to having at least one of the group’s associated tags).

"Only display supporters with a level of engagement applied to their profile",

If you haven't selected the above configuration, supporters can appear in groups without needing to have an assigned level of engagement.

Can Supporters have two different level of engagement tags?

Only the highest level of engagement will be shown on their SupporterBase profile.

When manually moving supporters between engagement levels in SupporterBase, our system will remove the tags associated with the other engagement levels, keeping only the tags associated with the new engagement level. This function is important to ensure supporters can be moved to higher or lower engagement levels.

There are cases where multiple engagement level tags are applied to supporter profiles through NationBuilder and when this happens, only the highest level of engagement will be shown on their SupporterBase profile.
