Email Blasts

SupporterBase lets you send out bulk email communications to your group members via the Email Blasts feature.

As an admin or group captain, you can draft, edit, approve and send email blasts without approval. As a vice-captain, you can draft email blasts and submit those for approval when you’re ready, at which point the designated admins and group captains will receive a notification to review your draft email blast for editing and/or approval.

Creating an email blast

  1. Use the left-hand sidebar menu to navigate to Email Blasts > Create New Email Blast.
  2. Choose your recipient category (either Group Members or Event RSVPs/Attendees).
    • If you select Group members as the intended recipients:
      • Choose the Supporter Group you want to receive your email blast.
      • Decide whether you want to “Send this email blast to specific levels of engagement”. This is a way of targeting your communications to certain supporters based on how active they are in the group. For further information see our documentation on levels of engagement
      • Decide whether you want to “Send this email blast to specific supporters using tag filters”. This is a way of targeting your communications to certain supporters based on the predefined subgroups created by your SupporterBase admins.
    • If you select Event RSVPs/Attendees as the intended recipients:
      • Choose the Supporter Group you want to receive your email blast.
      • Select the relevant event.
      • If you choose a past event, you will also be able to select an RSVP type. This allows you to either send to all RSVPs or specifically target your email blast to only go to attendees or non-attendees.
  3. Fill in the email form, including your name as the sender, the title, and email content.
  4. Select Create Email Blast.
    • If you are an admin or group captain, you will have the option of scheduling your email blast or sending it instantly.
    • You can then cancel the scheduled blast and either edit or delete it.
    • If you are a vice-captain of the group, you will have the option of submitting your draft email blast for approval. This will trigger a notification to all designated admins and group captains requesting their review in order to approve and send/schedule your email blast.
