Adding supporters via the SupporterBase interface
To add supporters via a bulk CSV import, check out our docs on creating imports.
To add supporters one by one, use the following steps.
- Go to the summary page of your group.
- At the top right of your groups page, select Add New Supporter and a pop-up will appear with a form to fill in. This first screen searches the database to see if the individual is already in the database.
- Alternatively, you can add a new supporter via the left-hand navigation, by selecting Supporter Groups > Add New Supporter.
- If you don’t find your person through the search, proceed to the bottom of the form where it says Enter full member details, and fill in their details.
- There is a consent checkbox for adding them to the database. Generally speaking, if the person has completed a sign-up form or petition from a campaign, they have consented to having their information recorded, but it is still best to confirm your own organisation’s privacy and consent policies.
- You’re done! Click Add Supporter and wait for the pop-up to go away.
Having trouble with your import? Remember that data integrity is really important...
Important note on minimum data requirements In order for people to be added to SupporterBase (via any of the methods outlined above) they must meet minimum data requirements. This means they must:
- Have the relevant group tags applied, as well as the master 'supporterbase' tag;
- Have either a valid phone number OR email;
- Have either a valid first name or last name; and
- Be contactable i.e. they have not unsubscribed from contact.
- Also ensure that only standard characters are present in your spreadsheet.
