NationBuilder configurations

Configure the connection between SupporterBase and NationBuilder

Your SupporterBase is connected to NationBuilder through a set of configurations. Admins manage these on Settings > Configurations > NationBuilder, and nobody else can open the Configurations page.

What you'll find here

Configuration optionWhat it shows / doesWhy it matters
SlugThe name of the NationBuilder site connected to SupporterBase. NationBuilder help: What is a slug?Identifies which NationBuilder instance your SupporterBase is syncing with.
Primary siteThe name of your primary NationBuilder site. Some orgs connect a secondary site to SupporterBase, not their main public site.
Broadcaster IDThe ID number of the NationBuilder broadcaster used for RSVP autoresponders. The field's own instruction carries a here link that opens your nation's broadcaster list.Ensures event RSVPs receive automatic confirmation messages.
Exclude event tagA tag that stops events carrying it from syncing into SupporterBase.Helps filter out events you don't want local groups to see or manage.

Reconnecting and embedding

The tab also holds a Reconnect Nation button for reauthorising the NationBuilder connection, and the copyable snippets you paste into NationBuilder to embed a SupporterBase RSVP form on an event page.

A Reconnection required badge sits beside that button whenever the connection has lapsed, and the configuration options above it only appear while the nation is connected.

Tagging new supporters

You don't set a tag for new supporters here. SupporterBase adds the supporterbase tag to a supporter automatically when they join a group, and uses that tag to decide who to pull in the overnight sync.

Best practices

Keep your configuration healthy

  • Check your slug regularly. Make sure you're connected to the right NationBuilder site.
  • Set a broadcaster ID early. This prevents RSVP autoresponder issues. Usually "1" (the top broadcaster).
  • Use exclude tags sparingly. Only for events that clearly don't belong in SupporterBase.
  • Review annually. Update these settings if your NationBuilder structure changes (e.g. new broadcasters, new tagging conventions).
