Limit how many people can RSVP
Cap an event's RSVPs so it stops accepting sign-ups once it's full
Cap an event so it stops accepting RSVPs once it's full, without you watching the numbers yourself. Capacity is set on the event, so if you don't have one yet, create it and come back.
Setting a capacity
Edit the event
Open the event you want to cap and click through to edit it.
Turn on the limit
Tick Limit the number of RSVPs for this event, which reveals the Capacity field underneath.
Enter the maximum
Set Capacity to the number of places you have, then save. The smallest limit you can set is 1.
No limit is the default
Events are uncapped unless you set a limit. Leaving this setting alone keeps the event accepting RSVPs indefinitely.
Guests count towards the limit
The count is RSVPs plus their guests, so set the number against the real number of places you have:
- Someone who RSVPs and brings two guests takes three of your places.
- Forty seats means a capacity of forty, counting every guest.
What supporters see
While there's room
The public sign-up form shows how many places are left, as spots remaining.
Once the event fills
The form stops accepting sign-ups, and supporters see the message "This event has reached its maximum capacity and is no longer accepting RSVPs."
Checking a limit from the event page
The event details show the cap you've set and mark the event once it's reached:
- Capacity, followed by the number
- An Event full badge once RSVPs and guests have reached that number
Raising the cap later
Edit the event and change the number. The sign-up form reopens straight away. Nobody who was turned away is notified, so tell the people who missed out yourself if you've found extra room.

Edit the event and enter a smaller number. New sign-ups stop as soon as you save.
Removing it
Switch Limit the number of RSVPs for this event off and save to go back to an uncapped event.
Lowering the cap doesn't remove anyone
Setting a limit below the number of people already signed up won't cancel anybody's RSVP. It only stops new ones. If you genuinely need fewer people, contact the ones you're standing down yourself.
